The following information applies to Drake19 and future. Have a good one.How do I amend a 1040 return? How do I amend a previously amended return? Just post it here as a reply and I'll take a look at it. If you have other questions, I'm happy to answer them for you. Create and file 1099s using QuickBooks Online.

These two platforms should be installed on the same local drive and the QBDT file must be in single-user mode. In addition, only the 2020 TurboTax Business can import data directly from the QuickBooks Desktop 2014-2021 versions. This includes the ActiveX that we used to export the data.įor now, the best way to migrate the file is to move lists and balances from QBO to QBDT. The reason why you're having issues with converting the data from QuickBooks Online (QBO) to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) is that Microsoft discontinued the support for Internet Explorer. Let me assist you with the data migration, GDVO.

WTAFFFF?!Īt this point I would buy a daily round of drinks for every day until Intuit gets their freaking act together and stops screwing us with terrible software that doesn't talk to each other (or creates a TTB online version). I have absolutely no clue who the clowns are that are writing this software, but I'm soooo frustrated that there is no tax solution for QBO. So, basically, not only have I wasted hours and hours trying to use TTB with my QBO company, but I'm still at square one and I cannot file my amended 2019 return using this software that I paid waaaay too much for. Good idea, except that Intuit has pulled down every legacy post related to that old migration tool. Not to worry, I'll just download the old migration tool from last year and do the whole ActiveX bullshirt from last year. WTAF? Does anyone see an issue with that? Okay.

Now I have a trial version of 2020, I trial version of 2021, TTB 2019, TTB 2020, and a QB migration tool installed. I'm still on the Open Company screen, so I start the migration tool again to import it directly into 2020. Now, it's on the Open Company screen (and I make sure 2021 is closed) and I try to open my QBD files directly that the migration tool already created for 2021.

Finally I somehow click the right series of buttons to get it "activated" for a new trial (still don't know how). At first, it won't let me use it because my trial period is over.

Okay, so I download the QBD Pro 2020 trial from last year. BUUUUT, it will not recognize the QBD file generated by the new migration tool. Great! So I start amending my 2019 return with TTB 2019 and it comes to the place where it gives me the option to import my QBD file. No worries, I have TurboTax Business 2019 still installed.

TurboTax Business 2020 will not effing open any tax files from previous years (and therefore can't amend my 2019 return). So now trying to amend my 2019 return prior to doing the 2020 return. After a bunch of headaches there, I finally downloaded my file and imported it into QBD Pro 2021.

Between 20 they replaced the QBD migration tool with one that doesn't rely on Internet Explorer and ActiveX. Well, I need to amend my 2019 return because we've done a whole accounting overhaul. This is driving me absolutely bonkers! I have QBO and went through the whole "migrate to a QBD trial version in order to import into TurboTax Business" fiasco last year.
